2010 Professorship and Readership Conferments

DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION - FRIDAY 19TH FEBRUARY

 

Please read ALL of the web pages in order to ensure you adhere fully to the criteria and procedures.

Each year applications are invited from Senior Lecturers, Principal Lecturers and above, as appropriate, for the conferment of Professorships and Readerships. The attention of potential applicants is particularly drawn to the published criteria and procedures for conferment in the attached web pages.

Professorships will normally be conferred on existing Principal Lecturers and above who have achieved an outstanding record and reputation at national and international level.

Readerships will normally be conferred on existing Senior Lecturers and above, who have achieved a significant record and reputation, although not necessarily at international level.

BRIEFING SESSIONS FOR POTENTIAL APPLICANTS WILL BE HELD AS FOLLOWS:

Wednesday 20th January - 12.00-1.00pm - Room G.18, James Parsons Building, Byrom Street

Thursday 21st January - 12.00-1.00pm - Room G.06, John Foster Building, Mount Pleasant

There will not be a briefing session held at the I M Marsh campus this year.

The purpose of the briefing sessions is to give potential applicants the opportunity, having read the criteria and procedures information and the Frequently Asked Questions  page, to ask the Chair of the Conferment Panel any questions they may have regarding their application, in order to ensure the criteria is fully understood and adhered to.

Procedures for Submission:

Applications should be sent, ideally electronically, alternatively by hardcopy to Suzanne Thomson, Secretary to the Conferment Panel.  Electronic applications should be emailed as an attachment to s.d.thomson@ljmu.ac.uk with the subject header clearly marked Professorship and Readership Conferment Application.  An Application Proforma should also be completed and sent as an attachment with your application or at the front of the hardcopy application.  (Please note that this does not count as part of the maximum number of pages allowed for your application).  If sending your application by post please send to the following address: Suzanne Thomson, Office of the PVC (Delivery), 1st floor, 4 Rodney Street, (if sending externally please include - Liverpool L1 2TZ).  For speed of processing, applications should be clearly marked on the outside with Professorship and Readership Conferment Application.  

In accordance with HR procedures the deadline for applications must be adhered to, late applications will only be considered under exceptional circumstances.  The Conferment Panel and HR also request that each applicant completes an Equal Opportunties Staff Monitoring Form.  This should be sent as a separate attachment to Suzanne Thomson  s.d.thomson@ljmu.ac.uk who will then forward all forms to HR.
