Faculty of Media Arts and Social Science

The Faculty of Media, Arts and Social Science offers a wide range of degree courses in its four Schools, and whatever you choose to study with us, the benefits of being in Liverpool as a student are immense.  The Faculty has strong links with the city’s creative and cultural industries – and Liverpool boasts some of the best arts and cultural venues outside London – one of the reasons why it won the European Capital of Culture award for 2008.  In the city we have partnerships with Tate Liverpool , FACT , Liverpool Biennial , Tubedale Films , Lime Pictures , the Everyman, Playhouse and Unity Theatres, and many businesses and organisations; in the region we also have partnerships with the BBC, Sony, Granada TV, Trinity Mirror and EMAP.

Our Honorary Fellows and Professors include Phil Redmond, Willy Russell, Frank Cottrell-Boyce, Beryl Bainbridge, Sir Trevor McDonald, and James Dyson.  All of this adds up to a very creative and inspiring environment in which to study – and is perhaps why more and more of our students choose to stay in Liverpool after graduating.  If you decide to come to study with us, you will receive sound and challenging academic teaching, but also have the opportunity to enhance your employability and develop career options through our work-placement opportunities and our additional skills training offered through the University’s ‘World of Work’ (WoW) scheme.  You will also have the exciting and unique experience of being in Liverpool – something which attracts more and more people every year.
