Doctoral Programmes

Faculty of Business and Law Doctoral Programmes

The doctoral programmes are a key element of the research activity within the Faculty of Business and Law, and students on the programme are seen as an integral part of the Faculty research community.  The doctoral programme encompasses the following broad areas:

There are typically 50 – 60 students enrolled on the doctoral programme at any one time and their fields of study cover the whole of the Business and Law subject areas.  If appropriate, students are also placed within one of the specialist research groups in the Faculty, which currently are - The European Centre for Corporate Governance, The Centre for International Banking, Economics and Finance, The Sustainable Enterprise Research Group.  Examples of Current PhD Students and Current DBA Students topics, as well as those of Recently Completed Students illustrate the range of subjects researched.

Students may study for an MPhil and PhD on a full-time or, for home-based students, on a part-time basis - click Application Process for more details.  For information on the Doctor of Business Administration click DBA

As well as helping developing students’ subject specialism the programme aims to develop skills in research methods and professional skills that will prepare students for their chosen careers.  To this end students engage in a variety of activities, including seminars, workshops and an annual Faculty Research Student Conference
